Review: Hard to Handle by Christine Warren

Hard to Handle Hard to Handle by Christine Warren
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I was excited to see that another Christine Warren novel was out! But after starting this novel I realized that the reason it feels like it's been so long since I've read one of her novels is because I've missed the last two books in this series! It was a bit of a shock, but that didn't take away from the suspense or fun in this book.

I really liked the turn around that the Guardian is a never before seen female Guardian. And that she was inexplicably called forth as a female because her Warden and mate were one and the same. Even if he didn't know he was a Warden in the first place. I really liked Michael (Drum)'s character. It was great to see this from the male perspective. Not only that but even though he's a male of power and his family has abilities he's almost a skeptic on top of that. It was fun. Until he starts shooting electricity he is of the 'leave me out of it' mentality.

I wasn't as big of a fan of Ash, but I think it was because I'm used to the Guardian being male and I liked Michael so much that it made it harder to get behind Ash. She also had some weird mental quirks based on how she interpreted the knowledge/memories that she had that threw me off.

All in all, a decent book that makes me want to go back and read the ones I've missed. Kylie and Dag's book sounds like it was super good!

Review: Intense Pleasure by Lora Leigh

Intense Pleasure Intense Pleasure by Lora Leigh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

An outstanding addition to this series! I have been a big fan of Lora Leigh since the beginning of her Breed series, which has lead me to reading all the rest of her series and books. This particular series, Bound Hearts, is different from many of her novels because all of the 'couples' are trios. In that they are all about two men and one woman finding happiness in a committed three-way relationship. The reality of this is probably few and far between but it really works in these books.

We were introduced to Summer and Falcon in the previous book, Secret Pleasure. It was nice seeing Summer get a happy ending. It was an interesting road they were on, because there's still some fall out from Secret Pleasure that Summer needs some protection from. Raeg and Summer have some weird beliefs about each other that would take some major work getting over. And Raeg and Falcon have an interesting perception of their parents live and actions, but in the end everyone comes to a happy resolution.

I do still wonder sometimes. Although I am a fan of all romance novels having an HEA, the menage stories, which are becoming more common, very easily have family members and friends accept these weird circumstances. I like it, but the reality of it happening is also unlikely and frustrating.

Review: Bound Together by Christine Feehan

Bound Together Bound Together by Christine Feehan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I would give this book a 4.5 stars rating if Goodreads would let me do half stars! I have been looking forward to this novel for quite some time and was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy.  I'm a big fan of most of Christine Feehan's novels. This one was as great as I was hoping for. If you've read any of the other books in this series or the Sea Haven series, which comes first in this series progression then you know to expect that this book is both wrapping up the Sisters of the Heart series and leading to the next series which will probably be the Torpedo Ink series.

I really liked that Blythe and Viktor had a history pre-novel and we're coming into it five years after he left and she thinks he abandoned her. There's no need for them to go throough a getting to know you period. It's all about forgiveness, accepting the consequences of actions, and getting a more realistic view of each other. It was great! I really liked how Viktor had built her up as the savior for his tarnished group of horror survivors also known as the Torpedo Ink club members. It was great that she's built up in their minds so much that they bring her scarred kids that they've rescued from atrocious situations like they're lost and stray kittens! You can easily see Viktor and Blythe's house becoming this huge monstrosity because they keep having to add on for the new kids that the group brings to her to help 'fix.'

Review: Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs

Silence Fallen Silence Fallen by Patricia Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am a huge fan of Patricia Briggs, really enjoy her Mercy Thompson series and lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of this. I am also privileged enough to be a librarian and qualify for access to ARC copies of many of my favorites books and authors. I read this book so fast it was amazing! I had been seriously looking forward to it and had been stalking Ms. Briggs' website for teasers. So I knew going in that Mercy gets kidnapped and somehow cut off from her metaphysical connections to everyone.

This did confuse me at first because how is that even possible? Turns out it is, and the explanation made sense. I also really enjoyed seeing the world that Patricia Briggs created from a much different perspective. Europe is VERY differently run from the United States since there is no Marrok controlling the packs and there are a lot more 'older' beings around. Vampire being just one type. The deep history of the places Mercy finds herself in where fun to hear about and have her interact with. It was also really cool for me because I have actually vacationed in Prague, and so was familiar with some of the locations that Mercy passed through.

Without giving away too much...Mercy keeps up her usual shenanigans of ending up in some type of peril that she did not start but once she gets involved actively things always get more complicated and spiral out of control. Many of our favorite characters make an appearance although except for the beginning not a lot of it is Mercy's pack. Plus there are plenty of new characters and some history of familiar characters that we get hints of as well. All in all an EXCELLENT addition to the Mercy Thompson series! Don't you love it when they're action packed, character rich, and hard to put down!
